Culinary Journey Through CHINA. A fantastic gourmet trip of a lifetime! Due to popular demand, we are again offering our deluxe gourmet tour, hosted by acclaimed Asian cuisine expert Chef Tony Tan, from 12th to 23rd September 08.
Malaysian-born, Australian-educated, fluent Mandarin speaker and old China-hand, Tony's 12 day sojourn explores and pampers our curiosity on all things Chinese. From its rich and fascinating regional cooking styles to its diverse people, China has long fascinated the world.
The tour commences in ultra-modern Shanghai, China's financial centre and where east meets west in perfect harmony. The journey heads north for imperial Beijing with its ancient hutongs (alleyways) and graceful courtyard houses. Then to the south-west of the country to Lijiang, a World Heritage-listed ancient town criss-crossed by canals, in Yunnan province.
China's culture and rituals span 5000 years; some highlights include include a session of fine-tea appreciation, visits to the Great Wall and the Forbidden City, a picnic set against the backdrop of Jade Dragon Snow Mountain, outstanding cooking classes with master chefs, tasting China's famous hams and local cheeses, dining on the four major regional cuisines and minority cuisines of this awe-inspiring country.
5 star-hotels include the Ritz-Carlton, the Grand Hyatt and the beautiful Banyan Tree Resort. Hong Kong extension possible.
